Condition
Good — The exterior Congo leather presents beautifully for its age, retaining excellent color saturation, gloss and pronounced embossing. There is natural softening and creasing throughout, along with light rubbing/darkening to portions of the handles, trim and piping, minor surface marks and normal age-related wear to the interior. The polished silver hardware shows visible fine scratching and contact wear but remains bright.
An especially collectible early example of Mulberry’s iconic Bayswater, crafted in richly textured red Congo leather and finished with polished silver-tone hardware.
Introduced in 2003, the Bayswater quickly became one of Mulberry’s defining early-2000s silhouettes. This example exhibits construction details associated with the bag’s earlier production era, including its self-lined suede interior, Made in England construction, early interior badge and serial-disc placement, and original-style Postman’s Lock hardware.
That history is particularly relevant now: Mulberry itself has returned to archival Congo leather for its current 55th-anniversary Bayswater project, with one-of-one archive-material editions currently priced at £1,855.
