Very Good — Shows light to moderate signs of prior use consistent with its vintage age. The exterior Silky Snake leather remains rich and glossy with the scale pattern beautifully defined throughout. There is natural softening and relaxation to the structure, along with minor surface wear and movement at some of the scale edges.
An especially striking archival interpretation of Mulberry’s iconic Bayswater, this circa 2011 Mulberry Bayswater is crafted in the house’s Black Silky Snake Print leather, finished with polished gold-tone hardware and the signature Postman’s Lock.
Rather than conventional smooth or grained leather, Silky Snake features an intricately worked snakeskin-effect surface with individually articulated scales, giving the classic Bayswater considerably more texture and dimension. The effect is particularly dramatic in black, where the scales catch the light while the overall palette remains understated.
The finish has become an increasingly interesting piece of Mulberry’s archive. In fact, Mulberry has returned to Silky Snake Print in 2026 as part of its 55th-anniversary Bayswater Limited Editions series, using surplus and sample materials from its archives; the current Midnight Blue Silky Snake edition is priced at £1,855. That makes the original-era Silky Snake Bayswaters particularly relevant for collectors right now.
